The border is hand side-stitched in two rows to bind the spring perimeter to the upholstery, and hand tufting with felt washers keeps fillings in uniform compression. Air vents in the border provide passive ventilation through the mattress depth of 8.3 inches, plus 2.4 inches of natural doming.
